"There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”" ~ Rachel Carson

Spring is a time for vibrant daydreams and planting seeds of hope. There is so much in you that can bloom as the days grow longer and brighter. This one day retreat is an opportunity to slow down and set your intentions for a peaceful, fruitful spring season!

For this year's BLOOM retreat, we have chosen a lovely setting and planned a day of music, both active and restful yoga sessions, sound and energy healing, and a full delicious lunch. You are warmly invited to come spend the day with us, and then step into the weeks ahead well-nourished and inspired.

For this retreat we will gather in the lovely, modern event space within the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading at 239 Woburn Street in Reading, MA. You can park behind the building, and enter through the dome-shaped wooden door near the parking lot.

The UU Church of Reading is a comfortable and intentionally inclusive space that welcomes all people no matter your age, gender identity, sexual orientation, differing abilities, cultural or religious background, spiritual beliefs, or political perspective.

Our Bloom retreat will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024. This experience is open to those with all levels of yoga experience, including beginners. The day will begin with a warm welcome, followed by an energizing and uplifting 90-minute flow yoga class led by Checka Antifonario with live music by Kimberly Redd! Kimberly is a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter whose music is mystically magical; she weaves love and wonder into any space. As an experienced yoga teacher herself, she understands the rhythm of practice and her music deeply enhances the experience every step of the way.

Next up will share a delicious vegetarian lunch prepared by Pain Et Beurre caterers from Providence, RI. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. The menu they have planned is nourishing, satisfying, and a delight for the taste buds. Spring is a great time to stoke our energy with delicious, vibrant food! We will have tables set up where you can enjoy your meal with friends old and new.

After a bit of downtime to digest and perhaps take a stroll around the block (there are sidewalks in the neighborhood), we will gather back in practice for a 90-minute chill practice co-led by Checka and Kimberly that will include restorative yoga (bolsters will be provided but please bring a blanket and / or blocks if you wish) and some light sound healing infused with Reiki energy work. As you relax in fully supported postures, you will be invited to truly rest, heal and let your spring intentions gently circulate within you. We will end our retreat with a closing circle to connect in gratitude for one another and the healing practices have enriched human life for generations.

This is a day of belonging and love. Come as you are and be in community. Step into the weeks ahead full of knowing that you deserve to balance all of your output with steady self-care too. Our wish is that we can all be fully ourselves and enjoy our precious lives as much as possible - and in this way we brighten the lives of others too. Hope to see you in April!
